Student Travel Opportunities

The Frederick Gunn School offers a variety of opportunities for student travel, from one-day field trips to travel abroad. Students are encouraged to sign up early as space may be limited.

The Center for Citizenship and Just Democracy is offering a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to experience the U.S. government in action during Winterim through the 关闭 Up® 华盛顿, D.C.、程序. After researching and investigating today’s key public policy issues, students will embark on a six-day/five-night program to 华盛顿, D.C., where they will make personal connections with the people, institutions, and iconic sites that embody our nation’s past and present. Participants will have the chance to:

  • Discuss current events with political experts, policymakers, and members of Congress or their staff

  • Explore Capitol Hill and witness a live congressional committee hearing*

  • Engage in meaningful discussions with peers from around the country and debate the most pressing issues facing our nation in a Mock Congress

  • Be inspired by the famous monuments, world-renowned museums, and hallowed institutions that define our history

  • Get a glimpse of diplomacy up close by discovering an embassy and meeting an ambassador or diplomat.

All students are eligible to participate, however the trip is limited to a maximum of 20 students. The estimated cost is $950; meals and accommodations are included. 查看 full itinerary here. France, Spain & the Mediterranean,
March 3‒10, 2023

Visual 艺术 Chair Andy RIchards P’20 ’23 is leading a 10-day tour of France, Spain and the Mediterranean with WorldStrides in March 2023.The itinerary places a special emphasis on art and architecture and includes stops at top historic and cultural sites in Paris, 普罗旺斯, Barcelona and Madrid. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Visit Paris landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Élysées, Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, Notre-Dame Cathedral.

  • Go on a guided excursion at Versailles and participate in a lively role-playing activity, “Seize the Chateau!” to explore the issues underlying the French Revolution

  • Go sightseeing in Nimes in 普罗旺斯, and participate in fencing and calligraphy lessons

  • Venture to the medieval walled town of Carcassonne and take a sightseeing tour of Barcelona that includes Park Güell, Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia, 擅长Gotic, Olympic Stadium, and Casa Milà (La Pedrera)

  • Take a guided tour of Madrid with stops at Plaza Colon, Plaza de España, and the Royal Palace

  • Tour King Phillip II's imposing palace, El Escorial, and Spain’s National Museum of 20th Century Art, 的索菲亚, and participate in a Spanish cooking class

The cost of the trip is $4,394 per student and includes round-trip airfare and ground transportation, accommodations in three- or four-star hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, travel insurance, local guides, 和更多的.
